About Me

My photo
Welcome! This blog is where I post a selection of what I do. So what do I do? Well, a lot. That's what makes this so tricky. But I'm going to try to make it good. I'd love to hear what you think! Blessed be, and enjoy. If you want to know more about me, or how this came to be, I recommend you read this: http://thessalders.blogspot.nl/2014/02/a-new-chapter.html

Moving forward one step at a time...

Relocating old work and uploading new work turns out to be a lot of work.

Who would've thought, huh?

Rest assured, I'm working on it. Translating texts to English, changing some links, it's all pretty simple work. So soon this blog will be much better filled. So bear with me.

It's a work in progress.

old blog inspirations

So, inspirations for today. They're all things I found in old blog posts. Might get more of those later on. Probably will.
This is the first of these posts. I'm curious what this little project will evolve into.

The guy who made these is called Andy Goldsworthy. It's pretty sweet, right?
I mean, he just goes someplace, works with what he finds there, makes something awesome, photographs it (sometimes) and then leaves it behind to wither or melt or be blown away by the wind or something. Land art.
Andy again. Just look at how cool this is!
I love this for loads of reasons. I mean, he works in nature, with nature, and he makes natural shapes, like the spiral you see above. Not exactly fibonacci, but still so awesome.

More Andeh here. This one is a little less spontaneous, but no less awesome whatsoever.

Enduring Freedom, by Nicola Verlato.
Three guesses how big this baby is.
250x270 cm. Which is big.
I saw it in the flesh, or, in the canvas. Trust me, it's big. Pretty impressive. The warmth of the colours used really creates an atmosphere where you get dragged into it. Sweet.

European Parliament, painted by Ignacio Goitia.
Also big.
But, in all seriousness, Ignacio rocks the perspective here. The distance is captured pretty well. That's why I uploaded it in the first place.
